You can explore the world by working at Turkish Airlines. Aside from the flight attendants, our cockpit crew also has the chance to see and experience many different places on earth.
We use the global standards as base when hiring cockpit crew and manage this process meticulously. We train our young pilots and bring them into Turkish Airlines as well as employing experienced pilots from different nations.
Employment of cockpit crew is conducted under the context of four categories:
- Captain
- First Officer
- Cadet Pilots Program
- Simulator Flight Instructor (SFI)
- CRM/Group Assessment Application: Psychometric assessment
- Document and License Check: Validity and compliance with the criteria is checked.
- Simulator Check: Assessment of the flying skills
- Panel Interview: Competency based interview
- Medical Check: This will be performed at a private medical institution and will be covered by Turkish Airlines.
Experienced Pilots Screening
Turkish Airlines screening process takes 3 days (Monday through to Wednesday, inclusive of the Medical).
All travel and accommodation expenses is covered by Turkish Airlines.

How can I get information about the medical report?
The last step of the assesment process is medical assessment. Applicants are demanded to get a fit-to-fly report from medical centers authorized by the General Directorate of Civil Aviation. How long does the cabin crew training take?
Cabin Crew trainings take around two months. Succesfull trainees will sign their contract and begin working as flight attendants at Turkish Airlines right after the end of the training

Where does the cabin crew training take place?
Turkish Airlines cabin crew trainings are conducted within the premises of Turkish Airlines Flight Academy, located in Istanbul, Turkey.

What are the benefits during the training?
Trainees are paid during the 18-24 months training along with food and shuttle services.

When will I receive my contract?
You will receive your contract within one month following your employment.

When is the pilots' duty schedules published?
Pilots’ duty schedules are published on 24th of each month if the calendar month is 31 days; published on the 23rd if the calendar month is 30 days.

What happens if I change my mind and decide to leave the company at any time during the contract?
If you decide to leave the company before one year, which is the minimum contracting time, you will have to pay for the training you have received.

How many days off a month are there for wide body captains?
Commuting roster is offered to both First Officers & Captain Pilots, that is, 3 weeks on / 1 week off. Confirmed tickets are provided only to the Captain Pilots to use before and after the block off days.

Pilots retire at the age of 65 at Turkish Airlines.

Is there any coordination center for expatriate pilots at Turkish Airlines to seek advice and assistance?
Yes, there is a unit called “Expat Relations Department” which provides assistance to all expat pilots.

How long will it take to obtain work permit in Turkey?
It takes about 4 weeks to get work permit for Turkish Airlines.

Do I have to live near the airport?
No, you don’t have to. However, in order not to waste your time in traffic jams especially during rush hours, it is recommended that you live in an area which is not too far from the airport.

Is there an opportunity for foreign pilots to learn Turkish?
Yes. There are some Turkish courses in the city for people who are interested in learning the Turkish language.

What are the requirements to obtain Turkish citizenship?
In order to be eligible to apply for Turkish citizenship, one needs to work legally for at least 5 years in Turkey or be married to a Turkish citizen for at least 3 years.
